Project Overview: Videography Basics - Cooking with My Son
Project Description: This project was part of a course focused on the basics of videography, where I learned various filming techniques. The assignment involved creating a video using multiple clips. I chose to film a cooking session with my son, making meatballs with barbecue sauce, mixed vegetables, and mac and cheese.
Concept and Theme:
Theme: The theme centers around family bonding and the joy of cooking together. The video captures the collaborative process of preparing a meal, highlighting both the practical and emotional aspects of cooking.
Objective: To create a cohesive and engaging video that documents the cooking process, showcasing the use of multiple filming techniques and the dynamic interaction between the participants.
Process:
Idea Development: Initially, I struggled with conceptualizing the video. However, once I decided to document a cooking session with my son, the idea took shape. The concept was to show the step-by-step preparation of a meal, emphasizing the teamwork and fun involved.
Collaboration: Recruiting my son to participate in the project added a personal touch and made the experience enjoyable and memorable. His involvement brought a unique dynamic to the video, making it more relatable and engaging.
Technical Approach:
Filming Techniques:
Multiple Clips: Utilized various shots, including close-ups, wide shots, and action shots, to create a visually interesting and informative video.
Editing: Edited the clips to ensure a smooth flow and coherent narrative. Transitions and effects were applied to enhance the viewing experience.
Equipment: Used basic videography equipment, including a camera and tripod, to capture high-quality footage.
Execution: The video begins with an introduction to the ingredients and the cooking setup. It progresses through each step of the cooking process, showcasing both my and my son's contributions. The final scenes present the finished dishes, emphasizing the rewarding outcome of our collaboration.
Outcome: The resulting video is a delightful documentation of a cooking session with my son. It effectively demonstrates various filming techniques learned in the class, while also capturing the fun and rewarding nature of video creation. This project is one of my favorites because it combines technical learning with personal enjoyment and family bonding.
Reflection: Creating this video was a valuable learning experience that demonstrated how fun and rewarding videography can be. Collaborating with my son made the project particularly special and memorable. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.
This project involved creating a video animation using Photoshop centered around the theme "Surf Away."
Concept and Theme:
Theme: "Surf Away" evokes images of freedom, adventure, and the ocean's vastness. The video aims to capture these elements through fluid motion and vibrant visuals.
Objective: To create a compelling animation that visually represents the joy and exhilaration of surfing, appealing to an audience that appreciates beach culture and adventure sports.
Design Elements:
Color Palette: I used the yellow tones to invoke the warm sunrise and fun time you can have.
Video Clips: I used a variety of clips that showed surfing and beach elements.
Arrangement: I arranged it by standing at the beginning of the day, ready to surf, then a clip going into the water, then a clip surfing, and then a beach scene at the close of a long day of surfing.
Technical Approach:
Software: Adobe Photoshop was utilized to put a color overlay over all the clips and add music
Animation Techniques: Keyframe animation and motion tweening were employed to create smooth transitions to show the word Surf Away.
Duration: The video is designed to be short and impactful, maintaining viewer interest while effectively conveying the theme.
Outcome: The resulting video is a lively representation of the "Surf Away" theme, successfully capturing the essence of surfing and beach culture. The engaging visuals make it compelling for audiences who appreciate dynamic and adventurous content.

"I created a series of promotional videos using stock footage of people working out and exercising to showcase Gatorade, incorporating the slogan 'Is it in you?' Additionally, I conceptualized a new product, 'Frosty Fuel,' and produced nine videos to promote both Gatorade and this new product. Each video is between 15 to 30 seconds long. Below are some examples from my portfolio demonstrating this work."
